Vc - A “recovering” tightass conservative who has just enough common sense to come in out of the rain, and a fair amount of pragmatic “well, that’s the way it is alright” attitudinalizing combined with a bit of zeal and zest for fighting city hall. Still a card-carrying member of the Establishment to this day…. regardless that she grew up in the flower-child era.
Simone- I’m a child of the 50’s and 60’s. So what was so bad about polio scares and hiding under our school desks preparing for nuclear attack? Now we have pandemic scares, bioterrorism scares, and the fear of nuclear terrorism. We have come such a long way that even Little Richard looks and acts normal in his Geico commercial by today’s standards. We should return to the 50’s with AM radio, Elvis, women unliberated, and a mere temporary “police action�? instead of war (oops we’re still in Korea militarily aren’t we). I mean who wants uppity Blacks and women (even if Oprah did provide more housing relief to New Orleans than FEMA). Yes things were so much simpler and clearer back then, and a woman’s role was only to please her man (if Hillary worked on pleasing Bill, there would have been no impeachment divide).
