My observations on watching the Dem ‘Debate’ on YouTube
I couldn’t watch this as it was happening since I’m one of those unusual individuals who threw out the TV years ago. But hey, this stuff is important, so now we have the internet to catch us up in such a way that we don’t have to sit through the commercials. Right?
Actually, there was ONE thing cool about this. You could repeat the segments over and over and figure out exactly what the Candidates didn’t really say, or skated around, or obfuscated behind piles of carefully crafted bullshit. No wonder the Repulseblicans don’t wanna have anything to do with this format!
Now, my observations and opinions:
What? NO IMPEACHMENT QUESTIONS???
Did anyone else notice that the vast majority of questions were asked by men? Did anyone else notice that only one candidate was a woman? Did anyone else notice that the male, Anderson Cooper, was chosen to “mc” this shindig? Some things just aren’t changing fast enough, I think.
Though it was an improvement that the guy who asked the question and the candidates who answered it didn’t pronounce it “Nucular” only one got the answer right. In this day and age and shortly after the near-disaster in Japan at the Nuclear Power Plant damaged by the earthquake was in the headlines, Clinton and Obama will ENTERTAIN the idea of Nuclear Power as part of the future “clean energy” mix? Of all the bone headed idiocies!
Did anyone else notice that this “Debate” wasn’t one?
Did anyone else notice that during this so-called “Debate”, which used the INTERNET, there were TWO HUGE ISSUES that weren’t even mentioned once? The issues– Media Reform and Broadband/Telecomm/Spectrum Policy Reform.
Did anyone else notice that Anderson Cooper was pushing CNN’s spin on things to the point where he was REWORDING the questions that were chosen? And of course, the candidates were spinning on their own as well.
Did anyone else notice that Dennis Kucinich was the only one who seemed to have a genuine sense of humor?
Did anyone else notice that there was so very little of substance that came from this that (except for the Nuclear Power Question) it would be very hard, based on this “debate” to judge which candidate would be the best President?
Well, one other person did.
