Taking a HARD look at the Business of Politics

Perspective on becoming Green

If you are fence sitting on doing your part to reduce carbon in the atmosphere, and, more importantly, fence sitting on pushing your congresscritters to pass MUCH MORE STRINGENT legislation to make sure Corporations and Government do their part, you need to read the blogpost over at TomGram, which also includes an article by Bill McKibben that is stunning in its simplicity and its call to action to reduce carbon to a 350ppm level. And then join 350.org.

Tom keeps repeating over and over parts of this quote by Top NASA Climatologist Jim Hansen, “if humanity wishes to preserve a planet similar to that on which civilization developed and to which life on earth is adapted, paleoclimate evidence and ongoing climate change suggest that CO2 will need to be reduced from its current 385 ppm to at most 350 ppm.” Anything less than this will ensure that formerly speculative movie scenarios a la Mad Max will someday be closer to reality than what we have now. And with the food riots that have already started, it may be that we’re already headed down that road. Will we be able to turn around? Only if we ACT NOW.

Does it all seem overwhelming? You can start here, and work your way down Small Green Actions Everyone Can Take list. Then put your congresscritters on speed dial. And call them OFTEN, urging Carbon Neutral legislation.

It’s important we all realize that the Corporate propagandists wish to keep selling us stuff we don’t need so Wall Street Gamblers can cash in on the Rape of our Planet, and also wish to perpetuate an unsustainable “externalized” economy, so they will keep buying off Big Media to play down this story. There is a LOT OF MONEY involved in playing it down. So we can’t depend on Big Media to tell us the truth, nor to help us spread the word in any meaningful way. So please do your part. Spread the word.

Natural gas is hemispheric. I like to call it hemispheric in nature because it is a product that we can find in our neighborhoods.
