A Cure For Cancer….?

Now THAT’S guaranteed to be a feel-good possibility! Ran across A cure for cancer? on http://donklephant.com/, posted by Sean Aqui, nice moderate that he is (check out Sean’s blog, Midtopia, sometime!) From his post:

It sounds too good to be true. But everything I can find says this could be legitimate.

A molecule used for decades to combat metabolic diseases in children, may soon be available as an effective treatment for many forms of cancer, University of Alberta researchers are reporting.

In results that “astounded” school scientists, the molecule, known as DCA, was shown to shrink lung, breast and brain tumours in both animal and human tissue experiments. The study is being published today in the journal Cancer Cell.

That could certainly give us all hope for the future - for instance, IF this pans out (and given it’s a “public domain” drug that’s been around for years), can hope for AIDS, for ALS, for MD and MS, for all those other horror-diseases, be far behind? Perhaps the clue to solving those cures is already sitting on medicine shelves everywhere….

[I’m aware that the thrust of posts here isn’t normally in the range of “feel goods”. But this one deserves exposure….]

2 Slaps to A Cure For Cancer….?

  1. bj Says:

That’s IF the US corporations don’t alluva sudden “discover” an unheretofore exhibited side effect of the drug, or the kissass FDA doesn’t figure out a way to sidetrack it. After all, cancer is a HUGE moneymaker for the “Medical Industry.”

  2. Vc Says:

Oh too sadly true of course. So we can expect a HUGE fight over this - with those who are fighting cancer or have family members fighting the disease ranged alongside those with others of the “horrible crop” of diseases - AIDS, ALS, et al - against the government, the FDA, and the “medical industry”.

This is one of those world-changers. I bet other countries will step up to the plate to provide drugs like this - the same way they do now….

Border relations between Canada and Mexico have never been better.
