A thoughtful, cogent post on Donklephant

General Batiste And I See Eye To Eye On Iraq.

It’s one of the few “reasonable” posts/articles I’ve read lately about the further “life and times” of this particular unpopular war. I’m not now nor have I ever been in favor of our current involvement in Iraq (well, I WOULD have been had we done something immediately after 9-11), but it’s certainly true that there’s no quick fix now, and simply pulling our presence completely doesn’t seem like a very good idea for any number of reasons. While I’m in general a hawk, I find this numb-nuts idiotic display of presidential peacockery has pretty much sent me to the dove-cote at this point.

I’m not sure that’s the case. I think our continued presence in Iraq guarantees the breakout of the civil war it’s supposed to prevent.

The Commander in Chief says:

Today I am pleased to announce that I have nominated an outstanding military officer, Admiral Ed -- Ammiral Ed Giambasteen -- Deh -- Giam -- Giambastiani.
