Bush BitchSlapped by the House on FISA/PAA

The House passed a FISA reform bill today that does NOT include Telecomm Retroactive Immunity. It also lets them tell their story in closed door session in Court. More importantly, it refuses to give permission to warrantless or rectroactive warrant wiretapping and puts some serious limits on blanket wiretaps. Glenn Greenwald has wrapped this Wonderful Moment in The House up much more thoroughly than I will.

Have we won this? Maybe not. But the passage of this bill might succeed in stalling the whole issue until after Bush is out of office. And that is A Beautiful Thing.

I really wish I could have been a fly on the wall for that closed door session. For so many Blue Dog Dems to switch their votes, there must have been something incredibly revealing brought out in those classified docs. And I’m sure that something had something to do with Bush and his illegal activities.
