Bushism of the Century

From the New York Times comes this quote from Bush re “the surge”. I think you’ll agree that it’s the Bushism of the Century.

President Bush told reporters on Friday that he had proposed the increase “in that I’m the decision maker, and I had to come up with a way forward that precluded disaster.”

5 Slaps to Bushism of the Century

    *laughing hysterically*

    WHAT a “moronism”…. Geesh.

  2. bj Says:

Yeah, it’s mindboggling that the person who was instrumental in creating the disaster that is already Iraq, and has been since the beginning, now wants to “preclude” it.

He may as well try now to preclude the disaster that was Hussein’s execution.

  3. Vc Says:

Er. Well, I don’t see that there was any disaster with executing that butcher, sorry. Only thing that would have been better about that would have been had they shot his balls off and staked him out over a fire-ant hill in the hot sun.

  4. bj Says:

As usual, you didn’t look at context. It was the grotesque circus that surrounded the event and made it into a PR and diplomatic disaster from day one (Day one being when Bush started to scream for war) that I had a problem with. I do believe that Hussein was an evil man who needed to be stopped, but because of the way the whole thing was handled we now are looking at a possible takeover of the whole region by the fanatics in Iran. Because of the way it was handled from Day one we now have a totally unstable Middle East to contend with.

Case in point– the manipulation of the verdict so that it was announced just in time to make the last Media Round before the US Election . . .

  5. Vc Says:

Sorry, but I’m not a mind-reader. You want to include context, not just throw statements out without same.

Besides, I rather enjoyed the circus, as well as the blatant ploy involving the date of the verdict.
