Taking a HARD look at the Business of Politics

The Plog Politicians love to hate.

McCain, an extension of Bush

It’s amazing that McCain is trying to visually “distance” himself from Bush. They’ve been pretty much in lock step since the beginning, and in fact many of Bush’s policies were stolen from McCain’s campaign platform when they ran against each other, and what differences there are can be measured in quarter teaspoons instead of oil barges. And if anyone thinks that McCain is more honorable than Bush, you need to really get a handle on who he hired to be his chief advisor– Charlie Black. And Black isn’t the only one on McCain’s campaign staff who has ties to nefarious lobbying firms, though 5 have been forced to recently resign due to their past lobbying activities.

McCain, who is tapping federal funds for his campaign, has been known to ignore campaign financing rules.

That’s just the tip of the iceberg. McCain’s answer for everything is “Let market forces prevail” which means MORE deregulation than we have now. And the deregulation under Bush resulted in the Mortgage Market and Wall Street Meltdown, the perversion of the Federal Contractor process, the Trashing of our Environment, the end of Oversight on royalty payments from Oil Companies drilling on Federal Land, the end of protections for whistleblowers, the Wiretapping of America, the End of Net Neutrality, etc etc etc.

Bottom line is that a vote for McCain guarantees us another 4 years of the Trashing of Our Democracy, same as we saw under Dubya.
