Something STINKS about this terrorist plot at Fort Dix
The NY Times ran an article today about the role an FBI Informer played in the capture of the Fort Dix Terrorist Suspects. It points out that in many instances the informer may have been the instigator rather than simply a conduit of information. This is entrapment, pure and simple.
The article also points out that defense attorneys are upset that the excerpts from recordings and surveilance tapes they received from US attorneys are heavily edited, and that there may be many more instances of entrapment on the segments that were edited out.
I’m curious to know if the New Jersey US Attorney is one who was “approved” by the Bush Administration, one who is known to play ball for political reasons. The timing of this terrorist plot, right at the time that Bush has vetoed the Iraq spending bill and is pushing his agenda to stay in Iraq with no timetable set, is just too damn neat to be coincidental. And do I need to mention that anything coming out of the DOJ is suspect these days?
From the article:
In fact, one of the suspects, Dritan Duka, seemed taken aback by the informer’s listing of the heavy artillery. Mr. Duka appeared to ask the informer if there was anything more he should know about the informer’s background or intentions, including whether he was religious. Asked why he seemed alarmed, Mr. Duka said to the informer, “There was some stuff on the list that was heavy.” And he added an expletive.
In the last recorded conversation cited in the complaint, the men opted only for the machine guns. They would “hold off” on anything more.
