The Biggest Reason for the Iraq Bush Push

The website Federal Spending dot Org has posted at least a good chunk of the 2006 numbers for who received dough from the Federal Budget. If you’ve never been to the site, it’s a pretty amazing compilation of who is bringing home the Federal Bacon to their State, and which organizations and corporations have received federal funds either via contracts or grants. With help from The Sunlight Foundation there have been a lot of site improvements, and an API has been written for those who wish to use the db for statistical analysis or for tie-ins to other websites.

With the 2006 numbers starting to finally come in, it’s pretty obvious why Bush wants us to continue to “SURGE” in Iraq. Of the top ten federal contractors in 2006, eight of them were Defense Contractors. Two of the top six states to receive Federal dough were Texas and Florida. And many of the top 100 Defense Contractors have a presence in Texas and Florida. It’s called Profiteering.

Why should Bush want to shut off the Money Spigot before the well is dry?
