Taking a HARD look at the Business of Politics

The Sunlight Foundation sheds sunlight on the dark corners of Congress

Not only is the Sunlight Foundation a great site for some heavy reading into who’s bringing home YOUR bacon in the form of federal earmarks, but it’s also got some of the most incredible tools (with more to come) for the citizen journalist who wishes to expose the underbelly of pork in political places.

Currently the Sunlight Network is running the Punch Clock Campaign, where you can actually EARN money to get your congresscritters and candidates to commit to signing a punch clock agreement to post their daily work schedule on the internet at the end of the day, to show what they’ve accomplished and how they allocated their time. Though there’s been some dough handed out, I venture to say there won’t be a lot of it. I doubt most congresscritters want us to know how much of their time is spent being wined and dined by lobbyists for various groups that are working against the interests of their constituents.
