An experiment in Democracy. Senator Durbin Blogs Telecom Policy.
First, Senator Durbin’s YouTube Video explaining his Experiment in Democracy.
Since Tuesday, Senator Durbin has had experts in all aspects of Telecommuncations, Broadband and Wifi/Wireless policy, as well as regular people like me, contributing to a conversation about what we want and expect our Telecom/Broadband/Wifi/Wireless Policy to be, what We, the People, deserve as a return on the Spectrum that is our Property. From the comments of the last few days, it’s obvious we haven’t been getting what we feel we deserve.
Here’s links to the discussions:

There will also be an open blog session tomorrow night. Also, poke around over there, there’s other threads from Harold Feld, Sascha Meinrath, Matt Stoller, Wally Bowen, as well as some of the Talking Heads of the Telco World, like Christopher Wolfe from Hands Off the Internet and Robert de Posada of The Latino Coalition (heavily funded by AT&T.)
Anyone who is convinced that Telecommunications Policy has taken a wrong turn will be doubly convinced after reading all that’s said here.
One can only hope that this brave new experiment in Internet Democracy will result in some solid new Telecommunications, Broadband and Spectrum Policy and that it doesn’t get shot down or diluted in committee by the incumbent powers that be.
