An FCC Data Dump available
Remember that FCC scandal at Martin’s reconfirmation hearing, when Senator Boxer outed a couple documents the FCC had buried that contained studies proving that Big Media Mergers and Consolidations were harmful to the diversity of the media? There was an investigation ordered, and a couple media watchdog groups, including the Media Access Project filed a Freedom of Information Act request for any documents the FCC had pertaining to the subject. Howard Feld, of Wet Machine, who works for the MAP, just let us all know that Martin came across with the goods buried in the FCC basement, or at least we think he may have. Apparently the stack of documents is pretty dense and jargony. If you have a taste for doing some digging, head over and snag the data dump. Will there be some buried treasure there? Who knows? I do think it would be great, if there is any good ammo to sink Media Consolidation for good, if it surfaces in time for the National Conference for Media Reform, which starts on January 12.
