Taking a HARD look at the Business of Politics

The Plog Politicians love to hate.

Foley is begging for sympathy, oh gag me . . .

This just in from CNN– “Former Rep. Mark Foley was molested by a clergyman when he was between the ages of 13 and 15, his attorney said Tuesday amid allegations that the congressman exchanged inappropriate e-mails and instant messages with teen congressional pages.” According to Foley’s attorney, Foley is not a pedophile, and never touched anyone underage. He also said Foley would discuss it further when he is released from a center where he’s being treated for alcoholism and mental issues.

And oh help me, Foley pulled out the GAY card. He just came out . . . as if he wasn’t already WAY outted!

I’m sorry, but this seems a pretty pathetic grasping at straws. No matter if it’s all true, no matter if the man went through pain and suffering himself, HE WAS STILL TROLLING FOR KIDS ON THE INTERNET. This is a person who should not have been in the position he was in.

Are there no security checks for people who get appointed to head up these House committees??? Are there no background checks? I can’t believe that nothing came out if there was one, and I have a whole lotta trouble believing there was never any sort of security check done on this man.

This means someone knew. Someone knew and chose not to do anything about it, which put kids in danger. That person, or persons, is just as sick and twisted as Foley is.

The CNN article also had this to say:

Bush said that he supported the call by House Speaker Dennis Hastert for a full investigation.

The president also voiced support for Hastert, calling him a “father, a teacher, a coach” and said the Illinois Republican “wants to ensure these children on Capitol Hill are protected.”

Bush’s comments came after an editorial in The Washington Times newspaper called for Hastert to resign his speaker’s position over the scandal.

Now does anyone else notice how quickly Bush came to the defense of Hastert??? I can’t WAIT for the FBI to find out who knew. I have a feeling the fickle finger of fate is already pointing in someone’s direction.

It’s time to clean House, folks. And for the record, if Foley was a Dem and the House was controlled by Dems, and Dems did the coverup, I’d be saying the same damn thing. This is sick.

One Slap to Foley is begging for sympathy, oh gag me . . .

Update on this today is that the SPIN meisters have gotten hold of it. Now it seems that because they were young teen BOYS it’s a GAY issue and not *as inappropriate*. GIVE ME A BREAK! When someone abuses the public trust and performs an ILLEGAL ACT it doesn’t matter if the underage person he has approached (and possibly abused) is male or female.

The other SPIN is that the of the timing. I’ve got news for you. If these kids worked as House Pages it’s assumed they’re in that program because they’re the best and brightest, and they’re angry with Foley for this abuse of trust and position, then the timing could have been very deliberately calculated BY THE KIDS to wreak maximum damage on the people who didn’t lift a finger when told about this two years ago. And quite frankly I can’t say I blame them. Blaming this one on the Dems is not going to cut it.

And yes, fire Hastert and anyone else who didn’t speak up about this. And the ones who did tell him and got no response should have gone over his head and called in law enforcement. There is NO excuse for this.

I hear the voices, and I read the front page, and I know the speculation. But I'm the decider, and I decide what is best. And what's best is for Don Rumsfeld to remain as the Secretary of Defense.
