DST (Daylight Savings Time) and the stupidity thereof
The historical basis for DST goes back to WWII. I suppose at that point it may have made sense (in the same way that blackout fabric over windows made sense).
It decidedly does NOT make sense now. It has not made any KIND of sense in the last 40 years of my life. And adding 4 - 6 WEEKS of it makes far less than NO SENSE AT ALL….
Here’s the deal folks…. if you “extend” daylight in the later part of the day, you MUST “truncate” it somewhere - and that would be in the morning, when people are historically less “apt”, less “together” anyway. [Especially in this day and age - people think they’re multitasking, they think they’re “eating daylight”, they think they’re “beating the system” (and of course, they’re doing none of the above*** see below).]
Changing the display of time (which is all that DST actually does) accomplishes NO SAVING AT ALL. One still must deal with the same amount of darkness (illuminated by artifice, of course - you know, turn ON the light?) no matter upon which end of the day it happens.
So what do we think about Bush’s big addition to DST? Why, what else? That it’s nothing but a political ploy - and a markedly stupid one at that since he’s not running for re-election, and since ANY REPUBLICAN WORTHY OF THAT COGNOMEN will be in a huge rush to divorce him-or-herself from any relationship to the biggest asshole this country has every called “mr president”.
*** I have a friend/client who INSISTS that she’s multitasking - that she is the MULTITASKER EXTRAORDINARE. Well, guess what, boys and girls? If you really dig into her processes, she hasn’t got a clue what she did 2 seconds ago and where she did it - so what that means is that I have to CLEAN UP AFTER HER any time she “multitasks” in the programs she (as a client) uses on the website.
Multitasking is a lie, a pipedream, a fallacy, a myth, a fantasy. Get real.

I’m glad to say we don’t have DST in Colombia.
