Food for thought regarding the “other white meat”
The National Pork Board decided to pick on a lady with a couple of missions of importance to a fair amount of people (promoting the very natural act of breastfeeding - see The Lactivist; and operating Search Engine Guide which attempts to help small business owners figure out the whole internet search engine thing), and has probably set themselves up for a “tank job” (with a little help from a high-powered but essentially not-too-bright attorney, Jennifer Daniel Collins of Faegre & Benson).
Classic case of “too big for their britches” mega-corp, here, I think…. and once you read the whole of it, you will agree!

Now, I know that when you have a trademark you have to actively defend it in order to keep it, but sheesh, can’t the National Pork Board pick their fights a little better? They not only are stomping on one very cool gal who is doing a lot to promote breastfeeding, but have ignored the fact that Jennifer’s the Editor of the Search Engine Guide. The OTHER White Meat is going to be SO smeared it will be unrecognizable as white before this is over, I’m sure.
What’s this about? Jennifer sells teeshirts through CafePress to pay for her website, The Lactivist, and raise money for human milk banks and raise awareness of breast feeding issues. One of the shirts she was offering had the slogan “the other white milk”.

So maybe y’all would want to think twice, or even several times, about that “other white meat” the next time you consider whether the pork chops are good, or you’d rather just have a lovely rotisserie chicken from Costco….
