The “Specter” of Corruption Looms . . .
As Intrade offers odds on the Presidential Pardon of Scooter Libby, the questions surrounding the firing of DOJ Attorneys who were investigating Government Corruption and the last minute changes to the Patriot Act allowing those firings, are heating up as the investigation by Congress into those firings and the reasons behind them continue.
And whose name keeps coming up in regards to this whole Megillah? My dear Senator, Arlen Specter, who, if his nose were to grow like Pinnochio’s with each lie, would need an 18 wheeler flatbed to precede him to carry it. Specter is now saying he had no clue his Aide slipped that language into the Patriot Act. Now, if you haven’t been following the illustrious career of Senator Specter, it’s an interesting read. One of his first appearances on the scene was as a member of the Warren Commission. Specter was the one who introduced the Single Bullet theory, which would have required a bullet to change course numerous times in order to hit both Kennedy and Connally. Later in Specter’s career he questioned Anita Hill in the investigation into her allegations against Clarence Thomas. Anita Hill later said that it was obvious that Specter had an agenda, and that rather than her questioning by Specter being a fact finding mission as it was supposed to be, it was instead, from the outset, adversarial.
Senator Arlen Specter now says he had no clue that his aide slipped that language into the Patriot Act. The language, which strips away the checks and balances of hiring and firing US Attorneys, was written by a DOJ member who is known to be favorable to the Bush Administration.
Specter, in the past, has appeared to both kiss King Bush’s hairy cheeks on some occasions, and kick them on others. My feeling is that he’s a key player in the Cabal, and that any appearance of opposition is carefully orchestrated so that sneaky and underhanded tricks such as this can be more effectively pulled off and deniability sustained. I think this time, though, he may have pissed off too many people.
Meanwhile, the investigation has already turned up some juicy tidbits, such as the pressure that was put on former US Attorney Iglesias by Senator Domenici (R-NM) and Representative Heather Wilson (R-NM) to hurry an investigation into possible corruption by Dems prior to the November Election.
It’ll be interesting to see what else turns up. I think we can all read the subtext here though. Specter helped the Bush Administration do an end run that allowed Bush to put Attorneys into DOJ who would be favorable to the Administration. This is more alarming when coupled with Specter’s shenanigans with the FISA bill, which has this effect: “One of the criticisms which many people have made of Specter’s FISA bill is that it grants the administration’s wish by simply stripping these cases away from the judges currently deciding them — several of whom have demonstrated hostility to the administration’s claims (such as Judge Taylor in Michigan, Judge Walker in San Francisco, and Judge King in Oregon) — and sticking them all behind a wall of secrecy in the FISA court (and then, after that, restricting appellate review and adding on new, possibly insurmountable hurdles for the plaintiffs to overcome).”
It really is time for Impeachment. Really. I just hope we can get rid of Specter in the same swell foop we get rid of Bush.

Well, Vegas-expatriate that I am, I am NOT making book on Scooter’s winding up in jail as opposed to pardoned.
Specter is a slut.

Yeah, and aren’t I lucky he’s the slut from Pennsylvania? *sigh*
Well, at least we got rid of Santorum last election. Maybe next election we’ll get lucky again.
